The Romans used to refer to zebras as tiger-horses. It is said that zebras were used in the Circus Maximus at the height of the Roman Empire as chariot horses. There are three species of zebras and depending on the species, they have different ranges. Generally speaking, you can find zebras in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Namibia, Angola, South Sudan, Mozambique, Malawi, Botswana, Rwanda, Swaziland, Somalia, Lesotho, Burundi, DR Congo, and Tanzania. A herd of zebras is referred to as a dazzle and consists of a stallion and a harem of mares. The gestation period for zebras is 12-13 months and when a mare gives birth to her foal, she keeps the foal away from the herd for a few days until the foal gets used to her mother’s scent.

“Like mother, like daughter” is reminiscent of the mother-daughter bond in humans and in animals. Whether they’re twinsies or they behave like twinsies, there’s a bond. Know of any mother-daughter duos who’d appreciate this meaningful throw pillow?
